Building Process: Site Selection and Preparation
Site Selection
When choosing the site for your Goodon building, keep in mind that your building site should be on level ground in a wind-swept area. This ensures that snow is cleared from your roof naturally via the wind. Try not to locate building close to tall trees or tall buildings that can also create snow load drift problems.
Please know where your building will be situated. Stake off two corners that show us where one end wall or one sidewall will be. Please have the site within 1' of level.
Site Preparation
- Be sure site is square with a specific reference point. For example, use a road or another building as your reference.
- Build the site up approximately 1' above the surrounding terrain. Use clay base for fill. (Avoid rock fill of any description)
- The site should cover at least 10' wider on all sides of the building. This section can be slightly sloped away from the building.
- Have ¾” crushed rock on hand. Rock is used for hole filling. Please have crushed rock dumped approximately 40’ from the building site..

3/4" Crushed Rock
- Try to have site within 1' of level. When leveling your site, the crews would appreciate an extra 15' access all around the building if possible; we realize this will not be possible in some cases. Please try to make room for materials to be dropped as close to the site as possible.
- Do not strip off existing soil.
- Confirm that any existing buried lines are clearly marked
